Meet my 3rd life self, Keef :D
Yet another 3D world to explore IMVU
Okay okay WORLD might be to big of a word for it. 3D chat rooms is more accurate.
I’ve actually had an account there since May but haven’t used it much.
So I finally upgraded to the real account vs the trial in order to check out the developer stuff.
They used the basic There style of submission and sales but only nominal fees for submission, nothing like the crazy There prices. They also have more of an SL freedom for creating stuff, ie no content police, and have an adult area for such things. It looks easy enough to design in as far as clothes and such. Just your basic skinning skills needed and they have a nifty previewer for testing.
The chat rooms can also be created by the users but that requires 3D max and the knowledge to use it.
Okay, I can skin and make clothes and would be interested in doing so. I’d even teach myself 3D max and make rooms. Had a crazy idea for a Christmas room.
Now for the beef…
“Welcome to the IMVU developer program!
Are you a budding 2D artist eager to flex your creative muscle and earn IMVU credits? Or maybe an industry professional looking to make some money on the side? You’re just the person we’re looking for! Download the developer tools and join the growing IMVU Developer Community.”
Sooooo….HOW IN THE HECK DO YOU CASH OUT???
Are folks expected to make things for purely imaginary money?
Why should I make a shirt for IMVU when I can make the same one for SL and trade my SL cash for real US with a click?
Why build a room in IMVU needing a $3,000 dollar program when I can do it in SL for free. I don’t think I can buy 3D max on game credits.
I don’t mean to sound pretentious but my stuff would probably sell very well. I’m just trying to understand advertising a program as “looking to make some money on the side” And have no means for someone to trade in their earnings.
Where does that leave developers? Do you have to sell your earning on your own on the side? Do you sell em on E-Bay? On Pay Pal? What? What an utter pain it the butt that is.
WAKE UP IMVU and get game credit going both ways.
Now if I only had a forum hound to rant for me… *cough Nal cough* There is a lot of talent in SL that could easily moonlight here. But they aren’t gonna waste there time for toy money.

THE HANGED MAN
Sep. 28th, 2005 | 03:56 pm
I Am

Which tarot card are you?
Suspended decision. Initiation, divination, prophecy. Turning point in psychic powers. Trust in inner voice.
Suspension, change, reversal, boredom, abandonment, sacrifice, readjustment, improvement, rebirth
He usually represents a time of feeling in limbo, being stuck or being prevented from moving forward. He's usually depicted hanging upside down with his hands tied - that's just what it feels like! We need to remain flexible and willing to let go of things, it's probably a time for sacrifice. Like the man in this card from the Murciano Tarot, don't sweat it, take some time out and be patient.
The Hanged Man - External Meaning: Spiritual awareness and the happiness and assuredness it brings. Sacrificing for a noble purpose. Reveral of one's current way of life. Inner peace. Developed intuition and prophecy. Esoteric Meaning: The spirit of the mighty waters. Reversing false images. Sacrifice. Energys: Water

The Keys to Your Heart |
You are attracted to those who have a split personality - cold as ice on the outside but hot as fire in the heart. |
In love, you feel the most alive when everything is uncertain, one moment heaven... the next moment hell. |
You'd like to your lover to think you are stylish and alluring. |
You would be forced to break up with someone who was emotional, moody, and difficult to please. |
Your ideal relationship is lasting. You want a relationship that looks to the future... one you can grow with. |
Your risk of cheating is 100%. You are not suited for a monogamous relationship. |
You think of marriage as something precious. You'll treasure marriage and treat it as sacred. |
In this moment, you think of love as commitment. Love only works when both people are totally devoted. |

| Pharaoh You scored 55% Pride, 37% Envy, 35% Ambition, and 55% Deceitfulness! |
| You are Pharaoh, the “divine” ruler of Egypt. You are infamous for forcing the Children of Israel into brutal captivity in the land of Egypt. Because of your pride, you put your own people through 10 horrible plagues. Of course, you could have just let the Children of Israel go, and thereby, avoided all of the plagues, but your pride blinded you to this option. I can’t really blame you though, if I thought I was a god, I’d probably be arrogant too. You have also mastered the art of deception, and it’d be wise for people around you to know that you are not to be trusted. In the biblical story, you agreed to let the Israelites go 10 times, but went back on your agreement every time. That’s absolutely horrible, but it does make for a good villain. Other than that, you tend to be nice to your subjects when you don’t let your pride get in the way and you’re pretty laid-back for a ruler of what was once the greatest nation in the world. |

Can we talk?…
Mar. 28th, 2005 | 12:05 pm
Hero fashion has been taken to new heights now that a new hero has moved to Paragon City. Yes, this new heroin is the talk of the town, everyone wonder what she will be seen in next. Milan too has been in a buzz and this spring we should be seeing many a hero inspired fashion on the runways.
Our first number is a restrained look. This hero is here for business… look out skulls!

Leather is the next, now were talking…HOT HOT HOT! and what it good in blue is fabulous in gold!

And as this hero has been know to say, its not me unless its PINK!

This reporter has noticed the sudden increase of pink clad heroes following suit.
We go from leather into the spandex look. Look for this fabric next season, it will be the look to have. And of course our heron shows us that pink is not for sissys!
Add a mini and WOW! Again setting the Paragon fashion seekers running back to ICON to follow suite.

Can we talk...cont...
Mar. 28th, 2005 | 12:00 pm
I interviewed Serge at ICON and here is what he had to say….
“She is beautiful, whatever I put her in just sings, I suggest ideas bur she has her own designs in mind so I am more of a conduit for her vision. And I must say her designs are always far superior than anything I could dream up.”
I asked him about how sales have been since the arrival of this hero.
“Amazing, through the roof! We’ve actually had to increase our orders on spandex! And, that’s no easy task getting things shipped through Port Royal.”
Unfortunately it has also made the hospital a busier too, it seems the underworld has also gotten word of the increased ICON business and ambushes at its doors are at an all time high.
And yes ladies, she can even make plain ol jeans and a tee shirt look good.

What’s next on the Fashion horizon you ask….
Well I’ve gotten a sneak peak….
The next big trend in paragon City is Freak Chic!

Sometimes you just want to kill stuff…
Mar. 3rd, 2005 | 11:38 am
mood:
drained
The week started out perfect. My SL friends blew me away with an incredible birthday bash in the B’s stunning Irish pub build, complete with décor consisting of cake, balloons, obligatory blackmail pictures, and of course the custom invite with Porky Pig on it :P. I was touched by the love I felt that night, and thanks to all who made it happen.
Then I got the call…
My mother is sick… cancer. We still don’t know how advanced in the testing phase now. The unknown is often much more frightening that the facts. Now were are all imagining the worst, and praying for the best.
What a birthday…*sigh* I’m sure my mother hates me having to get the news on my b-day. She’s a bottler too and really didn’t want to have to tell me. We weren’t going to do anything for my b-day, but when we got the news we got together as a family anyway using my b-day as a ruse and did a lot of hugging and crying. It’s just the start of the fight, but we are going to face it all together.
With the usual in season hell work schedule that has been taking all my energy away so haven’t been able to work in SL, and with this new added crisis I’ve had to cocoon myself even more. Neglected builds will just have to wait, and new jobs, well they’d have to be pretty spectacular concepts to get me excited enough to build.
Sometimes you REALLY REALLY just want to kill stuff…
Enter City of Heroes
Kill therapy? Anyway I bought it to get some drama free time and to just be silly with my girl. It has helped us sort of rediscover fun, something we had both been lacking as of late.
In a way I feel like the interloper, the new guy entering into an established a tight knit circle of friends. And I’m sure they're frustrated at my bumbling attempts to figure out how the game features work. This game has one of those manuals that only make sense once you’ve figured it out in-world. Bahhhh!!
I’ve only been at it now for 4 days and I’m still trying to figure out what does what. It wasn’t till I died 10 times that I figured out what energy bar was what. Everything still is very cumbersome and I’m still having to fumble through keystrokes to make things happen, and by the time I figure something out everyone has run off and I have to remember how to track them. Let’s not even talk about enhancements! I figure I must be a pain to deal with as I’m just trying to figure out how to target and attack while others are thinking of higher things like strategy, lol.
I HATE HATE HATE voice, and because I don’t do it that’s probably a BIG issue. It confuses me all the more, my brain just can’t deal with it. I can look or I can listen, I can’t do both at once. I’m thinking this might be a very divisive playing style choice on my part and will be a wall for me to ever being truly part of the group. Well I’m sure I’m at least giving them all a laugh in teamspeak as my character stands comatose as I fumble around trying to target or as I charge off in the wrong direction because I have no clue as to the battle plan for it was never typed just spoken.
And anyway, in my mood right now I don’t wanna think, I don’t wanna talk, I just wanna escape and kill. I just hope they can remember what it was like to just be starting out in the game everything all new, and no real instruction on how anything really works. I feel like a bumbling idiot, yes yes I know, cuz I am one, a clueless fool. Like when I’m asked to click on X and I have no idea who what where when or why X is?
My apologies to my second life, funny how one needs escape from their second life too.
But SL has also become second work, and I just need a break.
